CALL TO ACTION FOR AUGUSTA, GA COPYCAT IMUS TO BE REMOVED
The Community Action Coalition would like attention bought to this horrific incident that continues to unfold into a more prejudice and unjust situation.
In Augusta, Georgia the Columbia County School System (Predominately Caucasian) made a Kindergartner clean the toilets. As the mother complained to the Superintendent in writing her letter was then given to the local Radio Station WGAC a Beasley Broadcasting Station. The Radio host, Austin Rhodes, known for making negative statements about African Americans called her 5year old child “Pee Pee Boy” and “Wee Wee Boy” countless times on his show. He then called the boys’ mom Mrs.Vann a “Media Whore” when she asked him to stop. This community knows and supports her. Recently, she has donated money to a nonprofit organization that mentor boys, she also has her own Nonprofit called Community Action Coalition they are constantly in the community. With 2 degrees and serving her county in the Army she has been married to the SAME man over 15 years and is also a nurse. She is a veteran, a wife, a mother, a daughter and our sister. They (her and her husband) are assets to our community. This same talk show host Austin Rhoades who is now called the Imus of Augusta made the same comment that Imus made Live on Rejoice 97.4 a week ago. Oh yes he did! He called the station (94.7 Christian African American Audience) and made that comment about “Nappy Head Ho” and said “I will say it again”. There has been protest and boycotts and the news will not give any attention to this dreadful and demeaning situation. There was even a protest where the NAACP, SCLC, NBPP, and many others were in attendance. The family address was also given out over the air by Austin Rhodes “go visit the pee pee boy” and consequently they have had their home broken into, victims of racial slurs and harassment by their community. Their children are unsure why they have no friends and are called names daily. The type of supporters Austin Rhoades has ride by the protest calling us “Niggers” and saying “Get a Job”. They really think because we are sacrificing to boycott we don’t work. Austin Rhoades is worse than Imus he also has a TV talk show on Comcast. We have boycotted Comcast and Kroger who continue to advertise and support him. Ryan’s Restaurant has since stopped advertising with him. The Vanns’ has sent many students to college and made a great impact on our society. We need your support anyway you can. Send letters to Comcast, Kroger and especially Beasley Broadcasting that state “Austin Rhoades has to GO”. We are taking up a legal fund collection for these victims whose rights have been violated and lives been terrorized. They are suing for slander and have over $10,000 in lawyers’ bills so far.
